We’ve been busy bees this week in the preschool. We released two sets of butterflies and one set of ladybugs to the world. We did a good job of parenting these critters, and they were strong and healthy as they flew away.
We continued our rotations and had a wonderful visit from the Insectarium, which brought a hissing cockroach from Madagascar to pet! (I’m sure you’re all disappointed you missed that!) This week in the Butterfly room, Mary Beth had the children wrap themselves in scarf cocoons and emerge as beautiful butterflies. They’ve made butterfly wings with hand-made paper and played a butterfly matching game. We also paid a visit to the kindergarten room (which has been transformed into a farm!), and the students there showed us around and explained what they’ve learned about where food comes from.
Remember that next Friday is our trip to Shelly Ridge. We plan to leave school at 9:30 a.m. and should be back at school by 1:00 p.m. We hope you’ll be able to join us.
Here in the preschool we have officially changed Mother’s Day to Family Day. Dad’s always had their day after the school year ended, and it just didn’t seem fair! So we hope you enjoy your Family Day on Sunday and that you like the present your child has created for you with Connie.
Today and Saturday, May 9th and 10th, is the Fitler Square Fair. This festival will include food, children’s games, a moon bounce, and music (some of which is performed by TPS students!) The fair also includes a table that re-sells children's toys, equipment, and clothes. All proceeds go toward the maintenance of Fitler Square. Donations can be dropped off anytime during the fair.
We hope you all got your invitation to the Insect Expose. Come join our rotations and see all the things your children have learned.
Just a reminder that the traditional TPSA End-of-Year Picnic will be held on Friday, May 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. This event is a great way to celebrate the end of a wonderful school year. There will be food, arts and crafts, games, and a dance party in the gym. If you would like to find out more about TPSA and the important work they do at the school, feel free to come to the next meeting on Tuesday evening, May 13th at 7:15 p.m.
Have a great weekend. Maybe we’ll see you at the Fitler Square Fair!
