WEATHER-RELATED OR EMERGENCY CLOSING

Inclement Weather Announcements for Friday, February 22, 2008:

TPS will close at 1 p.m. today. Buses will be dispatched at noon. Parents whose children ride buses will be contacted before students are put on the buses.

We are closing at 1 p.m. today because weather conditions are expected to continue to worsen today.

Listen to KYW radio in the morning and during the day for weather-related or city-wide emergency closings. Our school closing number is 1011. If the Philadelphia public schools do not open because of severe weather or a city-wide emergency, we will not open. If the Philadelphia public schools open late, we will too; if they are open without transportation, so are we.

If a storm begins during the day, listen to KYW or call our School Closing Hotline (215-545-5323, press 7) for the latest information. When the School District closes in the middle of the day, buses are dispatched and depart TPS at the time announced by the District. We will call parents before sending children home early on a school bus. You or the individual listed as an emergency contact must be available to receive our call.

Our general policy, especially if the public schools close after noon owing to inclement weather, is to remain open until normal dismissal time for students who are independent walkers and students who are picked up by escorts. All after school activities are generally canceled.

In the event that the school has to implement its shelter-in-place plan, please listen to available media for an official all-clear from the city. At that time you may pick your child up from school. If the school building is evacuated, we will call or e-mail you to let you know where to pick up your child.
