IMPORTANT GRADUATION INFORMATION

Class of 2008

May 20, 8:15-9:15 a.m.:

  • Breakfast for 8th grade students and their parents

The month of May and the first week of June:

  • 8th graders are required to attend all graduation rehearsals.
  • 8th graders should share their graduation schedule with parents; it is available online.
  • Please check your calendars and reschedule any appointments (doctor, dentist, hairdresser) for your child to a time after school.
  • Invitations to graduation were mailed home on May 8.

Thursday evening, June 5 – “Teacher Presentations” begin at 7 p.m. in the gym:

  • Graduates, please plan to arrive at TPS at 6:45 p.m.
  • Graduates should just take their seats on the stage and wait for the program to begin at 7 p.m. GRADUATES SHOULD NOT BE LATE.
  • Dress for graduates may be a little less formal than for Friday’s ceremony.  But NO SNEAKERS, JEANS, or SHORTS, please. Use your good judgment.
  • We expect the program to end by 8:30 p.m.  The school is providing dessert and cold beverages following the ceremony in the Multipurpose Room.
  • Videotaping will be permitted on Thursday evening but only if cameras are hand-held in the photographer’s seat or are set up in the back of the gym; we do not want guests’ views to be obstructed by people taking pictures.
  • Very limited parking will be available in the faculty parking lot.

Friday morning, June 6 – program begins at 9 a.m. in the gym

  • Graduates should arrive at TPS at 8:30 a.m. and report to the Multipurpose Room.
  • Recommended dress for graduates: boys – jacket and tie/suit, no sneakers; girls – nice slacks, skirt/dress (not too short - especially if you are in the front row!), no sneakers. Please note that it can get chilly in the gym, so a light sweater over a dress or sleeveless blouse is recommended.
  • Guests may not enter the gymnasium until the doors are “officially opened” at 8:30 a.m. (An exception will be made for guests who need special assistance getting to their seats.)
  • An order form for a professionally produced Graduation video was sent home; orders should be placed directly with the video producer.   If you did not receive an order form, you can download one or call Robin at ext. 222. We ask that you do not take videos on Friday; tripods will not be permitted.
  • There will be very limited parking available in the faculty parking lot AFTER 8:30 a.m. Please do not park in the faculty lot before 8:30 a.m. On-the-street parking is generally limited to 2 hours. We expect graduation to end between 11 and 11:15 a.m. Please consider walking or taking a cab.
  • Graduates will join their families in the Multipurpose Room after the ceremony is over.   For those of you planning to make lunch reservations, to play it safe you might want to make the reservations for 12:30 p.m.
